Rivers in Estes Park Area

BIG THOMPSON RIVER BELOW THE DAM - . Starting to get good reports on hoppers, Adams and elk hair caddis. Water levels are great for fishing. Also, we've had reports on panther martin spinners further down the Big Thompson. What a great Spring we have had. We've had good reports below the Lake Estes Dam on Jujubees in sizes of 24, and 26. Also, the thread midge in size 26 were working. Also, stimulator and irresistibles were working early June . BIG THOMPSON RIVER ABOVR THE DAM Good reports from the Big Thompson River above the dam and west of Estes Park on small Roostertail Spinners, flying black ants and even grass hoppers. FALL RIVER Had a good report on Fall River today, flying black ants, jujubees and bronco worms are working well on the Browns in the early afternoon.

Lakes in Estes Park

Last weeks fire is totally out and our hearts go out to the folks who lost homes. We are even getting our normal weather pattern back without so much heat. Looks like 80's and even some 70's for the next 10 days with several chances of an afternoon rain shower. Lake Estes and Mary's lake should be stocked for the 4th of July LAKE ESTES We have had good reports on people catching trout on worms and power bait in pink colors. Have also heard good action on Kastmaster lures in gold color. Try the bubble fly setup in the evening with a blue wing olive or even an Adams fly. Low light situations bring the trout to the surface so get those flies on. MARY'S LAKE Good action on worms, pink power bait and gold and sliver panther martins in the 2pmr sizes. Also try the gold Kastmaster with a slow retrieve. LILLY LAKE Has started to produce on small BWO, say 18 and 20, good size Greenbacks are cruising the shoreline

Fishing Rocky Mountain National Park

MORRAINE PARK The grasshoppers have arrived. Our parachute yellow kicking hooper in size 16 has been hot in Moraine Park lately! One of our clients caught a 14 inch brown on one the other day. If you don't fly fish try the 2pmr yellow body, red dot, panther Martin spinner. LILLY LAKE Spawning is about through and we are getting reports on Cutts being caught on size 18 and 20 bwo. Looks like the Cutts wintered well since lots of them are cruising the shore line. Saw some nice sized ones when I was up there not to long ago. ROARING RIVER Talked to a couple of guy backpacking the river for a few days who did well on flying black ants and BWO. HIGH MOUNTAIN LAKES Great reports from Ozul lake on anything that resembles a mosquito. Loche Vale is also good with many Cutts taking flying black ants in size range of 6-18. Cutts are cruising the shoreline. Good reports from Mills Lake too. The flying black ant has been producing there too. The road to Bear Lake is under construction but if you get in before 9am you can still drive up to Bear Lake, otherwise your on the shuttle. Road waits were not bad, say 10 minutes or so. NORTH FORK OF THE COLORADO(west side of the park). Good reports on BWO in the size range of 18 and 20. Also try the Bronco worm.
